White composite fillings
Experience aesthetically pleasing, healthy and durable fillings at our Bella Vista dental practice!
Unlike traditional amalgam fillings that have presented some concerns in recent years due to their high mercury content, potential hazard to the environment and unsightly appearance, the white composite fillings we utilise at Q Dental are aesthetically pleasing and 100% free from mercury. White composite fillings are much more effective than traditional metal fillings as the metal in traditional fillings have been known to contract or expand in reaction to temperature changes within the mouth, causing the tooth to become more damaged or even fracture.
We artfully match our filling material to blend seamlessly with your natural tooth enamel. Using the finest quality materials, our white composite fillings look beautiful and are engineered to last. The white composite material used for your filling is applied in layers and are not only colour-matched to your teeth, but are also shaped to become invisible to the untrained eye.
Producing healthier results for our patients…
Composite dental fillings are a modern alternative to traditional amalgam fillings and allow us to fill and essentially re-build a tooth using highly aesthetic material that can be colour-matched to the exact shade of your teeth, rendering them virtually invisible! Composite white fillings are bonded to the surface of the teeth at the site of the cavity or decay, and help hold the tooth together to retain its structural integrity.
What is the process for composite white fillings?
Generally the process will begin with a thorough dental assessment to examine the amount of decay present and ensure white fillings are the best option. Depending on the size of the restoration, a dental crown may be used instead of a filling to hold the tooth together and protect it from breakage. For smaller restorations however, composite fillings are suitable and are applied to the site of the cavity and slowly built up within the tooth. The filling is applied in layers and each layer is effectively hardened with a special dental light. Once applied, the composite resin is meticulously shaped to fit the tooth perfectly and then polished to complete the process.
Looking after your white fillings
White fillings have been known to last between 7-10 years, however this can differ from patient to patient and depends largely on their oral health maintenance. By visiting our Bella Vista dental practice regularly we can care for your white fillings and help to prolong their lifespan.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth in the smile zone we can also use this composite material to conceal chips, cracks and other small dental concerns.
